Beyond Reason

Maine's Premier Pop-rock blues band

The Southern Maine-based band Beyond Reason is the musical brainchild of guitarist Greg Kidd and vocalist Steve Leighton.  They initially formed the band in 1992, enlisting the talents of Steve Mead (bass & vocals), Tom Coolidge (keyboards & vocals) and Roland Krueger (drums & vocals) to actualize the band’s trademark harmonies, textured melodies and tight rhythm section.  Bruce Wescott (drums, guitars & vocals) joined the collective in 2021, following the death of Krueger in 2017.   The veteran musician has played with the likes of Wescott and Company, The Del Rays and The Visitors Band.

Beyond Reason has released five studio albums that have garnered attention across the globe.  The original compositions have received airplay in such far-flung places as Athens, Greece and London, England, as well as across the country to Barrow, Alaska and San Francisco, California.

“Desperate Means” (Beyond Reason) was selected for Homegrown Volume One, a compilation CD released in 1996 by the Maine adult alternative radio station, 98.9 WCLZ.

The socially conscious five-piece is comprised of hard-working family men who actively champion the causes and organization that they believe in.  Over the past three decades, the band has lent its talent and support at a variety of fundraisers, including benefits for the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition, the Peabody House, the Ryan White Foundation, the Maine Island Trails Association and the Preble Street Resource Center.  Kidd and Leighton produced the rally song for the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s rally on the Capital steps in Washington, DC.

Beyond Reason’s dynamic live performances have earned the band opening slots for such influential artists as Lowen & Navarro; Savoy Brown; The Holmes Brothers; Sonny Landreth; Jon Pousette-Dart; James Montgomery; and Roomful of Blues.
